BNP out to create pressure on EC: Nasim

Dhaka: Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim on Thursday said BNP started criticising the newly formed Election Commission (EC) only to create pressure on it.
"BNP is habituated to spread falsehood . . . It's nothing but only a technique to create pressure on the new Election Commission," he said while speaking at the 44th conference of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh at Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh (KIB) at Khamarbari here.
Nasim, also the health and family welfare minister, said the newly formed EC even did not start doing any work till date, but BNP in the meantime started spreading falsehood against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other Election Commissioners.
Apart from the BNP, other political parties have taken the new EC very positively, he said.
"The Election Commission is yet to do its activities, but what's the problem of BNP?" the senior AL leader questioned.
Nasim categorically said the EC will perform in accordance with the law and no technique will bring benefit for them as "country's people are the sole owners of their votes."
Without mentioning any name, he issued a note of warning and said, "Come to the election field, game will be there."
He added: Awami League will accept the results of the polls scheduled to be held in 2019."

He urged the victims and their family members to lodge complaints, if they have any, with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and necessary action will be taken in this regard.
