BCL image remains untarnished: Tofail
Dhaka: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said has the image Bangladesh Chhatra League has been intact even after attempts from many quarters to stigmatise this pro-Awami League student body that has been mired with controversies in recent times.
“No one was successful in the past in stigmatizing Chhatra League. But some opportunists can infiltrate the organization and demean its image. So I urge leaders and activists to remain vigilant in this regard,” said the Tofail Ahmed who enjoys legendary status in the country’s history of student politics for his role in the 1960s.
Tofail made the remark on Thursday while addressing the council session of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Dhaka North City unit at the Kalabagan Ground in the city.
BCL Dhaka South City unit council is expected to be held on 30 May.
AL joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Fazle Noor Taposh MP and BCL general secretary Siddiqui Nazmul Alam, also addressed the council session that was inaugurated by BCL president HM Bodiujjaman Sohag.
Council session for BCL central unit is scheduled to be held on 25-26 July. BCL Dhaka University council session will be held on June 11.
