The detainees are Nazrul Islam, a resident of the village of Barabil in the municipality area, and Hazrat Ali, a resident of the village of Prannathpur.

A total of 12 people including the prime accused Shahjadpur municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru and his two brothers were held for their link in the killing.

An investigation officer, Shahjadpur police Officer-in-charge Monirul Islam said the arrestees were sent to jail through the court.

Though their names were not mentioned in the case statement, it has been found that they were involved in the incident.

Earlier, Abdul Hakim Shimul died on 3 February afternoon, when he was being shifted to Dhaka from the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogra.

On 2 February, three people, including Abdul Hakim Shimul, were bullet-hit from Shahjadpur municipality Mayor Halimul Haque Miru’s personal shotgun.

Among the injured, Shimul, was admitted to Bogra’s Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in a critical condition.

The Shahjadpur police Officer-in-charge Rezaul Haque said Mayor Halimul Haque’s brother Hasibul Haque Pintoo beat Shahjadpur Degree College Chhatra League President Bijoy Sheikh at about 1:30pm on Thursday. Later, Bijoy’s supporter blocked the highway and marched at mayor’s resident in a procession. Someone among the protestors hurled stone to the mayor’s residence, as a consequence Halimul Haque opened fire to the demonstration and left three people injured.
