Munshiganj: A man was killed in a reported gunfight between his associates and police at Boikhor in the district town early Monday.

The deceased is Shahjalal Miji, an accused in 22 cases filed with different police stations of Munshiganj.

Police super of the district Mohammad Jayedul Alam said Miji was arrested on Sunday afternoon and police, acting on his statement, conducted a drive in the area the following day to recover arms.

Sensing police presence, Alam said, his associates opened fire prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight. Later, police recovered Miji’s bullet-hit body from the spot.

Police recovered two pistols and two sharp weapons from the scene.

Three policemen were also injured in the gunfight. They were admitted to General Hospital.
