Mymensingh: Police arrested BNP leader Ahmed Taiyebur Rahman Hiron, the Gauripur upazila chairman of Mymensigh, in Sadar upazila in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Gauripur police Officer-in-charge Delowar Hossain said Hiron was arrested at about 1:00am following an arrest warrant in a case filed with Netrakona’s Purbadhala police.

Hiron, joint convenor of Mymensigh (North) district BNP, is wanted in around 12 cases including a case filed over an attack on Gauripur BNP’s convenor Maqbul Hossain Bakul on 12 December 2014.

Mymensingh (North) district BNP’s senior convenor Motahar Hossain Talukder, also the chairman of Tarakanda upazila, condemned and protested the arrest of Hiron. Motahar Hossain also demanded fast release of Hiron.
