Robert Watkins to join as UN resident coordinator
Dhaka: Newly appointed UNDP Resident Representative in Dhaka Robert Watkins will arrive here this month, said an official release on Saturday.
Watkins, who is coming in place of former UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka Neal Walker, met Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) AK Abdul Momen at his office in New York on Friday, said a media release of Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
Momen described Bangladesh’s various areas where UNDP works and recalled the role of UNDP in Bangladesh’s development.
He hoped that the UNDP will play more effective role in Bangladesh’s socioeconomic development during Watkins’s tenure.
Bangladesh Mission (Economic) Barun Dev Mitra and UNDP officials were also present at the meeting.
