Fugitive in Kibria murder case arrested

Habiganj: Police arrested Abdul Jalil, a fugitive accused in the former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria murder case, from Mahmudpur village of Habiganj early Tuesday.
Tipped off, a team of Sadar Police Station launched a drive at the village in the early hours and arrested Jalil, said officer-in-charge of the police station Yeasunul Haque.
Jalil was a charge-sheeted accused in the case filed for killing Kibria, he said, adding that a court had earlier issued a warrant for his arrest.
Five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally of local Awami League at Baidder Bazar in Sadar upazila on January 27, 2005.
Awami League leader Abdul Mazid Khan filed two cases - one for murder and another under the Explosives Substances Act - with the Habiganj Police Station the following day.
