Bus driver gets life term over death of Tareque, Mishuk
A Manikganj court handed over life term imprisonment to bus driver Jamir Hossain in a case filed over the death of filmmaker Tareque Masud, cinematographer Mishur Munier and three others in a road accident took place on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in 2011.
Manikganj additional district and sessions Judge Al Mahmud Faizul Kabir announced the verdict sentencing Jamir Hossain, a resident of Daulatdiar village of Chuadanga.
The also fined him Tk 5,000 and to suffer three months more imprisonment in default to pay the fine.
He was also awarded two years more imprisonment and fined Tk 2000, in default, to serve one month more imprisonment, for using his expired driving license during the incident.
Earlier, on 19 February, the court fixed the date for delivering the verdict over the death of five people including Tareque and Mishuk.
The court testified 24 witnesses among 39.
On 13 August in 2011, Tareque and Mishuk along with three others were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Ghior upazila of Manikganj while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj after visiting a filming location.
The accident happened when a microbus carrying the two prominent personalities collided with a bus on the highway.
