Man held over killing of younger siblings in Narsingdi

Narsingdi: A young man was handed over to police after allegedly killing three of his younger siblings at Alokabali of char area near the River Meghna in Narsingdi.

Local people handed over Mohammad Rubel Mia, in his twenties, to police at about 10:30am on Wednesday.

The local people said Rubel Mia, also the son of Abu Kalam, strangulated three of his siblings to death at about 12:15am on Wednesday following a family dispute. Rubel also hacked another brother, Atiqur, who came to stop him from killing the siblings.

However, Rubel fled from the spot immediately after killing the minors.

The deceased are Yasin, 10 years old, Mariam, aged around 7, and Mahia, 5 years old, all are children of Abu Kalam Mia, a resident of the village of Purbapara in Alokbali.

The Sadar Model Police Officer-in-charge (Investigation) Salauddin said police went to the spot and is trying to find out the reason behind the murder.

However, no case has been filed yet in this connection.

The bodies were sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
