Cox’s Bazar: Cox's Bazar deputy commissioner Ali Hossain on Thursday said the government will take immediate step to relocate Rohingyas to Thengarchar.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters after distributing relief materials sent by Malaysian among some 300 unregistered Rohingya families at Kutubpalong camp in Ukhiya upazila and registered Leda camp in Teknaf upazila in the morning.

The DC said the relief materials will be distributed among 15,000 Rohingya families gradually. Of them, 6,000 are in Teknaf upazila while the rest in Ukhiya upazila.

Saiful Islam Majumdar, additional deputy commissioner of the district, was also present during the relief distribution.

Earlier, Malaysian aid ship 'Nautical Aliya' carrying 1600 tonnes of goods for Rohingyas arrived here on February 13.
