3 to walk gallows for killing two siblings

Habiganj: A Habiganj court on Sunday sentenced three men to death for killing two siblings at Bahubal upazila in Habiganj in 2008.

The convicts are Abdul Ali, 40, son of Abdus Samad, Sayed Ali, 36, son of Marfat Ali, Arzu Miah, 40, son of Abdul Malek, residents of Joshpal village in the upazila.  Among them, only Ali is now in jail while the rest two are on the run.

According to the prosecution, the convicts picked up Nurul Ali, 10, and Ahad Ali, 8, sons of Siddik Ali of the village, from their house alluring them to take to a wedding ceremony on August 18, 2008.

Later, police recovered the slaughtered bodies of two siblings from a paddy field at Titakona village of the upazila on August 19.

The victims’ father then filed a murder case against three of them with Bahubal Police Station.

Later, police arrested Ali and he then confessed to the killing in court.

After examining witnesses and records, additional district and sessions judge Mafroza Parvin handed down the verdict.
