A Comilla court on Monday sentenced five members of a family to life term imprisonment for killing a young man in 2010.

The lifers are Babu Saha, 55, his wife Geeta Rani Sana and their three sons- Mithun, 23, Tutul, 26 and Shimul, 19- all residents of Pashchim Gaon village in Laksham upazila.

The court fined the lifers Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer 1 year more rigorous imprisonment, reports UNB.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Nur Nahar Begum Shiuly handed down the verdict.

According to the prosecution, Zakir Hossain, a resident of the same village, was stabbed to death by the convicts on November 6, 2010 over previous enmity.

Ershad Mia Khokon, elder brother of Zakir, filed a case with Laksham Police Station accusing eight people in this connection.

Later police submitted the charge sheet against five people.
