Judges get tabs
Dhaka: As part of its move to digitise the judiciary, the government is providing 200 tablets for the lower court judges.
Judges of the district and session’s courts across the country will receive the digital gadgets.
Information and Communication Technology state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the tabs to Law minister Anisul Huq at the latter’s office on Monday.
While receiving the tabs, the law minister said the judges are getting the tabs as part of the digitalisation of the judiciary.
The proper use of the device would help accelerate the judicial activities and ultimately reduce the backlog of cases, he added.
The Law Ministry collected the tabs within two days after Chief Justice SK Sinha at a reception in the city on Saturday observed that the judiciary lags behind the other departments of the state in terms of digitalisation.
He also mentioned that judges were kept out of the list of recipients of government tabs.
