A tribunal in Thakurgaon on Monday convicted four people and sentenced them to jail until death for violating a housewife in Sadar upazila in 2015.

The court also fined the lifers — Alamgir, 32, son of Alauddin, Ismael Hossain, 30, son of Jamsher Ali, Arif Hossain, 22, son of Amir Uddin, and Yusuf Ali, 20, son of late Abdul Barek, all hailing from Uttar Boalia Killapara village of the upazila, — Tk one lakh each.

Among them, Arif Hossain was tried in absentia, reports UNB.

According to the case statement, the four convicts entered the house of the victim, a resident of the same village, at night and raped her one after another on June 18, 2015.

The victim filed a case against the four with Ruhia Police Station the following day.

After examining the records and witnesses, Mirza Mohammad Aiyub Ali, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, handed down the verdict.
