HC stays Islamic University ‘F’ unit fresh admission test
Dhaka: The High Court on Monday stayed for two months the decision of Islamic University (IU) cancelling its 'F' unit admission test following ‘question paper leakage’.
An HC bench comprising Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir came up with the stay order following a petition filed by 88 aggrieved students.
Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal stood for the petitioners while Deputy Attorney General SM Moniruzzaman represented the state.
Ruhul Quddus said the IU syndicate on March 6 cancelled the 'F' unit admission test under its Applied Science and Technology Faculty and decided to hold it again on March 16.
However, around 100 students got enrolled in Mathematics and Statistics departments under the faculty before the admission test was cancelled, he said, adding that the fate of the students who have already got enrolled will be known in the final order.
The written admission test of ‘F' unit was held on December 7 last.
The university authorities formed a probe body following an allegation of the question paper leakage of the test.
On March 6, the IU authorities cancelled the 'F' unit admission test and also suspended a teacher and two officers, and expelled a student over question paper leakage.
