17 rescued from human traffickers at Benapole border
Benapole: Seventeen Bangladeshis who had been trafficked out to India were rescued here while they were entering the country through Daulatpur border point early on Tuesday.
The 17 people, including six women and three children, all are residents of Narail and Gopalganj districts.
Nayek Subedar Nurul Islam, Daulatpur camp commander of 21 BGB battalion, said a team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive in the area and rescued the 17 people.
They were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
Sensing BGB’s presence, the human traffickers fled the scene.
