Bombs, grenades, suicidal vests defused in Comilla ‘militant den’

Comilla: The bomb disposal unit defused bombs, grenades and suicide vests at South Bagmara ‘militant den’ in South Comilla Sadar upazila on Saturday.
A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, led by Shakhawat Hossain, additional deputy inspector general of Chittagong range, started their work at 9:15am and defused two bombs weighing 5kg, six hand grenades and two suicide vests, said Md Shah Abid Hossain, superintendent of Comilla Police.
Police will brief reporters about the operation at 5:30pm at the Police Superintendent’s office.
Earlier on Friday, the bombs, grenades and suicide vests were found at the hideout during operation, ‘Strike Out launched by the SWAT team.
However, no militant was found inside the suspected militant den.
Based on intelligence information, a team of police cordoned off ‘the militant hideout’ in a three-storey building there at about 4:30 pm on Wednesday.
