Bogra: A traffic constable has been beaten by a mob for beating a rickshaw puller.

The constable faced the wrath of the people after he had mercilessly beaten a rickshaw-puller with a stick for violating traffic signal in Bogra on Tuesday morning.

Witnesses said constable Babar Ali beat rickshaw-puller Ruhul Amin with a stick as the latter ignored traffic signal at Satmatha intersection in the northern district at about 11:30am.

Angered by the brutal step of the traffic constable, locals on the scene beat him, says a UNB report.

Later, a patrol team of police rescued Babar and detained rickshaw-puller Ruhul Amin. Traffic Inspector Amirul Islam, however, released Ruhul Amin after giving him some money for treatment.
