Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday extended her heartiest congratulations to Bangladesh cricket team for defeating Sri Lanka in the second and final T20i match.

Bangladesh ended their Sri Lanka tour in style, handing Sri Lanka a massive 45-run defeat in the second and final T20i match to square the series at 1-1.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, an avid cricket fan, greeted all the players, coach and officials of the national team as well as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials concerned for defeating Sri Lanka in the second T20i match, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

The prime minister also congratulated the Bangladesh team for their tremendous performance in all formats—Test, ODI and T20 -- of cricket against the Lankans.

‘The whole nation is proud of seeing the team spirit of our players and their tremendous performance,’ the press secretary quoted the premier as saying.

Sheikh Hasina expressed the hope that the winning spree of the Bangladesh cricket team would continue in future.
