Sirajganj: A man was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) near Jhaoil Bridge in Kamarkhanda upazila in Sirajganj early on Wednesday.

Being tipped off that some robbers are preparing to commit robberies, RAB members conducted a drive there around 2:00am, said RAB 12 company commander Major Shafayet Sumon.

Sensing the elite force’s presence, the gang opened fire, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

The gunfight left Abdul Halim, in his thirties, a resident of Panchbaria village and an accused in a murder case, dead on the spot, the RAB official added.
