Jessore: A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of robbers at Deulir intersection in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore early on Thursday.

Tipped off that two robber gangs were exchanging fire in the area, a team of police went to the spot early in the morning, said Shahidul Islam Shaheed, officer‐in‐charge of Keshabpur Police Station.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers managed to flee.

Later, police rescued two injured people‐‐Yunus Hossain, in his forties, resident of Makbul Hossain of Manipur village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira district and Ashraf—from the spot and recovered one shutter gun and two sharp weapons.

Later, the injured were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared Yunus dead.
