Joypurhat: A schoolgirl was reportedly raped by a young man at Biswaspara in Joypurhat on Sunday night.

Panchbibi Police officer‐in‐charge Ashraful Islam said Sweet, resident of Purbo Ramchandrapur village in Panchbibi upazila, took the girl of the same village, to a house, drugged her over there and violated her.

Later, Sweet left the girl, an eight‐grader, in a Hili‐bound bus in a pool of blood and fled.

On information, police rescued the girl from Hili bus stand in Dinajpur and get her admitted to Hakimpur Upazila Health Complex.

As her condition deteriorated, she was then moved to Joypurhat Modern Hospital.

Police later arrested Sweet from Joypurhat.
