Rangpur: A Rangpur court on Sunday sentenced a man and his son to death in a case for killing a relative in Pirganj upazila in 2004.

Additional District and Session Judge M Kamruzzamam handed down the verdict after examining witnesses and documents.

The condemned convicts are Osman Gani and his son Mohosin Haque of Akberpur Madhapara village of the upazila.

Meanwhile, two other accused–Obaidur Rahman and Lucky Khatun–were acquitted of the charge.

According to the prosecution, there had been longstanding dispute between Osman and his elder brother Nabi Uddin over demarcation of their house.

As a sequel to the dispute, Osman beat Nabi Uddin to death on 22 August 2004.

The deceased’s son Khairul Islam filed a case against four people in this connection.
