Gazipur: Gazipur district police on Monday formed a three‐member probe committee to investigate the apparent suicide of a man along with his minor daughter in an incident that shook the nation’s conscience.

Golam Sabur, additional superintendent of police, has been made head of the committee, said Superintendent of Police of Gazipur M Harun‐or‐Rashid.

The committee has been asked to provide its report within three days, added the Gazipur SP.

Hazrat Ali, in his forties, along with his daughter Ayesha Akhter, around 8 years old, reportedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train near Sreepur Railway Station on Saturday morning, having failed to get justice, or even a hearing, over an attempt by adversaries to violate the minor girl and grab his land.
