Manikganj: Police arrested a young man from Ukia village in Sadar upazila on Monday allegedly for violating a schoolgirl and uploading the rape’s video clip on the internet.

The arrestee is Abdul Awal, 31.

Sources at the Sadar Police Station said Awal took the girl away to the house of his friend Wasim in Seota area of the district town on 10 May, and raped her while his friend recorded the video of the rape on a mobile phone.

He also threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident.

Awal raped the girl several times and uploaded the video clip on the internet.

As the video got disclosed, the victim’s mother filed a case against Awal and Wasim with Sadar Police Station.

Contacted, Sadar Police officer-in-charge Aminur Rahman said they arrested Awal and sent the girl to Sadar hospital for her medical test.
