Banbarban: A worker was killed and 5 others injured in a landslide while cutting a hill for road construction at Siddiqnagar in Bandarban Sadar area on Sunday at about 1:00pm.                                                                                       

Police and witnesses said the landslide occurred while the workers were cutting a hill for constructing a road under the authorization of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board. Mohammad Zakaria, one of the workers from Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar died on the spot. The five other injured workers are Apon Barua, Shapan Barua, Achir Mia, Jihan and Salimullah.

Fire service, civil defence and local people took the injured people to Bandarban Sadar Hospital. After primary treatment there, 2 injured workers were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Sadar police officer-in-charge Imtiaz Ahmed confirmed the news.
