Police drive at Rajshahi ‘militant den’, 4 killed

Rajshahi: Police claimed the death of four militants including a woman at a suspected militants’ hideout in Godagari of Rajshahi on Thursday morning.
Two police members and a fire fighter were also injured during the drive.
Local people said police cordoned off the residence of an Al Amin, suspected to be militant den, at the village of Benipur at Habaspur Machhimara under the Godagari upazila of Rajshahi, at about 3:00am on Thursday.
The Godagari police Officer-in-charge (OC) Hipjur Alam Munshi said based on the information of police headquarters the law enforcers cordoned off the house, where Al Amin and his brother, Shoeb used to live.
However, police launched drive on Thursday morning and later claimed the death of four suspected militants.
The OC said the militants exploded bombs after sensing the presence of police. Police believed several militants were living in the mud house.
Local people were evacuated to a safe distance as the drive is still ongoing.
