Father, son shot dead in Khagrachhari

An indigenous man and his son were shot dead and two others injured in an attack by their rival group over previous enmity at Tholipara in Sadar upazila of Khagrachhari on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Chironjit Tripura, 55 and his son Korno Tripura, 30, reports UNB.

Ali Ahmed Khan, superintendent of Khagrachhari Police, said a group of people, numbering 30/40, led by local Union Parisahd member Kalibandhu Tripura swooped on the house of Chironjit around 7:30 pm and picked up Chironjit and his son.

They took them to another place and shot and stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving Chironjit dead on the spot and his son injured .

Later Korno was taken to Sadar hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Chironjit’s wife Bhobelokkhi Tripura and his daughter-in-law Bizli Tripura were also injured in the attack by the miscreants.

The criminals also looted valuables and vandalised the house and business establishment of Chironjit. Besides, Korno’s seven-year-old son Juboraj Tripura remained missing after the incident.

On information, a team of police and Army personnel went to the spot and recovered the bodies.
