Police on Wednesday arrested an assistant sub-inspector in connection with rape of a female police constable.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch additional deputy commissioner Jahangir Alam said the arrest was made at Kolatali area in Cox’s Bazar.

The 24-year-old female police constable attached to the Turag police was raped reportedly by her former husband and five of his associates at a Khilgaon residence in the Dhaka on 11 June.

On 13 June, she lodged a complaint with the Khilgaon police. She was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The victim also underwent forensic test the following day and evidence of rape was found in the test, DMCH One Stop Crisis Centre confirmed.
