‘Robber’ killed in Khulna ‘gunfight’ with cop
An alleged robber was killed in a gunfight, as police said, with the law enforcers in Paschim Tutpara area of Khulna city on early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Raju Ahmed, 27, son of Siddiqur Rahman. He was accused in five cases including robbery and murder.
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said that on secret information that a gang of dacoits numbering 10-12 were taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, a team of police conducted drive around 3am.
Sensing presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, leaving Raju bullet wounds.
Later, he was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 4:00am.
Police recovered two pistols, four rounds of bullets of gun and pistols, added the OC.
