Land Minister's son denied bail in another case

A Pabna court on Monday rejected the bail petition of Sirhan Sharif Tamal, son of Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, in another case filed over vandalism.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim rejected the bail plea filed by his lawyer advocate Abdul Ahad Babu, reports UNB.
The court also sent him to jail when he was produced before it.
Shahin Mia, sub-inspector of Ishwardi Police Station also the investigation officer of the case, said Ajmal Haque Biswas, a resident of College Road area of Ishwardi municipality filed the case against Tamal on charges of vandalising business establishments and houses on May 19 last.
Earlier on Sunday, the court also rejected the bail plea of Tomal and 11 others and sent them to the jail in a case filed by freedom fighter Atiar Rahman Biswas.
On May 18 last, Tamal, also the president of upazila Awami Jubo League and general secretary Rajib Sarkar vandalized the business establishments of Land Minister’s son-in-law also the mayor of Ishwardi municipality Abul Kalam Azad Mintu and the houses of upazila unit Chhatra League president Zubaiyer Biswas.
Later, police arrested them from different parts of the district town in connection with the cases.
Police said Land Minister Shamsur Rahman, also an MP from Pabna-4 constituency, and his son-in-law Ishwardi municipality Mayor Abul Kalam Azad had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
