Khulna: A man was hacked to death at Muhammadnagar of Harinhata in the city of Khulna on Friday afternoon.

Bystanders said the killers managed to escape after hacking Imran Hossain Sajeeb, who was in his thirties.

Imran Hossain’s father Nazrul Islam claimed that his son was a member of Juba League, youth organisation backed by ruling Awami League.

City Juba League joint convener Hafez Shamim, however, did not confirmed that Imran Hossain was an activist of his organisation.

Nazrul Islam said the killers attacked Imran Hossain at about 12 noon. They severed a hand of Imran, who was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital. He, however, was declared dead.

Khulna assistant commissioner of police Maniruzzaman said Imran Hossain was named in several cases, including murder cases. He was freed from prison several months ago, the police officer added.
