Transport strike in Rajshahi, Rangpur divisions enters day 3
Natore: The 72-hour strike, enforced by truck, tanker-lorry, covered van and pick-up van owners and workers Oikya Parishad in 16 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions to realise their seven-point demand, entered the third day on Tuesday.
The Parishad’s demand include stopping harassment in the name of checking driving licence on highways, stopping plying of unauthorised vehicles on highways and ending harassment in issuing driving licence.
The Parishad leaders had first enforced a 48-hour strike and then made it a 72-hour one as the administration failed to fulfill their demands within the given time.
Meanwhile, they have threatened to announce tougher programmes after Eid-ul-Fitr if their demands are not met by 23 May.
