10 hurt in Lakshmipur union polls clash

Lakshmipur: At least 10 people, including a policeman, were injured in clashes at Char Algi govt Primary School polling centre under Char Algi union in Ramgati upazila during the union council election on Tuesday.
Following the clash, voting has been postponed at the centre, said presiding officer Golam Morshed.
Police said the clash ensued at the centre around 11:00am when the supporters of BNP-backed chairman candidate Siraj Uddin and two other member candidates tried to resist the supporters of Awami League backed-chairman candidate Jakir Hossain Liton Chowdhury when they tried to take control of the centre and cast fake votes.
At least 20 crude bombs were blasted during the clash.
Police fired several round of bullets to bring the situation under control.
