A minor boy was stabbed to death allegedly by his mentally ill grandfather at Bakchara village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira on early Saturday.

Quoting local people, police said Israil Mali, father of a local union parishad chairman Maznur Rahman, had been suffering from mental illness for long, reports UNB.

‘On Friday night, when all the house inmates were in deep sleep, Israil stabbed his grandson Shamrat, 8, indiscriminately around 12:30am, leaving him dead on the spot,’ said Maruf Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

On information, police recovered the body and arrested Israil in this connection.
