Rajshahi: The wife of Rajshahi Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) managing director Dhirendranath Sarkar was found hanging at their official residence in the city’s Collectorate area on Monday morning.

Police recovered the hanging body of Chandana Rani at about 10:00am.

Quoting the Wasa MD, Rajpara Police officer-in-charge (Investigation) Anisur Rahman said after getting no response from inside, Dhirendranath stormed into the room of Chandana breaking it open only to find her hanging from the ceiling fan.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Anisur Rahman said Chandana might have committed suicide by hanging herself over a family feud.

Meanwhile, victim’s relatives claimed that Dhirendranath killed his wife in a planned way and later hanged the body to make it appear that she killed herself, an allegation turned down by the Wasa MD.
