Suspected drug peddler killed in B’baria ‘gunfight’

Brahmanbaria: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Chandidwar village in Kosba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Tuesday night.
The deceased is Ibrahim Miah, in his thirties, a resident of Latuamora village in the upazila.
Officer‐in‐charge of Kosba Police Station Mohammad Mohiuddin said a police team, led by Sub‐inspector Rafiqul Islam, conducted a drive at Latuamora village and arrested Ibrahim’s wife Renua with six kilograms of hemp at about 10:00 pm.
While the law enforcers reached Chandiwar village on their way to police station with Renua, Ibrahim along with his associates carried out an attack on the policemen.
Ibrahim and his cohorts opened fire to police personnel, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering the gunfight.
During the gunfight, police fired 18 bullets, said the OC, claiming that Ibrahim was shot to death by a bullet fired by his men.
