BNP making ‘black list of repressors’: Rizvi

Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday warned that their party is preparing a 'black list' of those repressing and suppressing its leaders and activists.
"The government has let loose the law enforcers and ruling party cadres to oppress our leaders and activists out of its fear of losing power. The incidents of extrajudicial killing and enforced disappearance are taking place regularly. Our iftar parties are being attacked," he said.
Speaking at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan Central office, the BNP leader further said, "We would like to urge them to shun such activities...a black list of those indulging in repressive acts, misdeeds and injustice is being made. No one of you will be spared."
He also warned that those committing crimes against humanity by unlawfully killing BNP leaders and activists and making them disappeared will have to face trial someday.
Rizvi alleged that ruling party 'cadres' with the help of police are foiling their party's iftar programmes across the country.
He said their party men could not hold iftar programmes in Narsingdi's Palash upazila Dhaka's Dohar upazila and Madaripur's Shibchar upazila on Friday. "Even, in this month of Ramadan they're snatching the rights of opposition parties to hold religious programmes."
Rizvi said police are raiding the house of their leaders and activists and filing 'false' cases against them under the speedy trial act. "We condemn it."
He voiced concern as Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's Narsingdi unit assistant general secretary Siddiqur Rahman Nahid and his cousin Waziullah remained traceless since they were picked by law enforcers yesterday.
The BNP leader demanded the law enforcers immediately trace the duo and ensure their safe return to their families.
