Patuakhali: The paternal grandfather Army official Captain Tanvir Salam Shanto, who was killed in a landslide in Rangamati, died of shock here on Thursday.

Abdul Aziz Mollah, 83, passed away at his Singherkathi village house in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali in the morning.

Family said Aziz fell ill after hearing the death news of his grandchild. He continued to wail with a photograph of Tanvir together with him.

He suffered a heart attack in the morning when he heard that the preparation was going on to bury the Army official in Dhaka, and died around 9:30am.

He will be buried at the family graveyard on Friday morning.

Five Army personnel, including Tanvir, were killed while they were carrying out a rescue operation in Manikchhari of Rangamati on Tuesday after Monday night’s hillslides that killed over 150 people in five districts.
