Nasim warns against health sector corruption
Dhaka: Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Thursday warned that stern actions would be taken against those to be found involved in corruption in the health sector.
‘Not only at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital, stern actions will be taken against those to be found guilty of corruption in any health sector organisation,’ he said replying to a tabled written question from ruling Awami League lawmaker Abdul Latif (Chittagong-11).
The minister said corruption cannot be acceptable in any service providing organisation.
Responding to another written question from AL lawmaker Mamunur Rashid Kiron (Noakhali-2), Nasim said 76.6 per cent of couples capable of giving birth, adopt family planning method in the country.
Out of 2.69 crore capable couples, nearly 2.12 crore adopted family planning methods across the country in April last, he added.
In response to a question from AL lawmaker AFM Bahauddin Nasim (Madaripur 3), the minister said a total of 3,393 posts out of 8,340 remain vacant at union and upazila-level hospitals and medical colleges across the country.
