Dhaka: Newly appointed Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division (AFD) Lt Gen Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq took over on Thursday morning.

Lt Gen Belal replaced Gen Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan who handed over the charge to him at a simple ceremony at the Army Headquarters.

Earlier on 10 June, the government appointed Lt Gen Belal as the new Army chief.  

Iqbal Karim was appointed the Army Chief on 7 June 2012 and he took over the charge on 25 June.

On 4 June, the government appointed Air Vice Marshal Abu Esrar as the new chief of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF). He will assume office on 12 June next.
