Vehicles stranded on Shimulia ferry terminal

Munshiganj: Hundreds of vehicles queued up at Shimulia ferry terminal in Munshiganj as the rush of Eid holidaymakers peaks on Friday morning.
More than 700 vehicles were seen waiting on both ends of the terminal for river crossing on the first day of Eid vacation.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) authorities said the logjam is becoming longer as the day progressed.
BIWTA Shimulia terminal manager Shah Newaz said pressure of passengers and vehicles have been seen since early hours of Friday. Around 700 vehicles are waiting to be ferried the terminal. Most of the vehicles are private cars.
Shah Newaz said around 18 ferries are transporting on the Shimulia-Khathalbari route. People were also seen crossing the river on launches and sea-boats.
