Comilla: Two siblings were killed and three other people were injured when a covered van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Bennai on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Daudkandi upazila, Comilla on Sunday morning.

The deceased are Abdul Karim, in his thirties, and Abul Kalam, in his twenties, residents of Kushiara village of the upazila.

The Daudkandi Highway police said the accident took place when the Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka collided head-on with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw at about 8:00am.

The injured, Faruk Hossain, Billal Hossain and Abul Kalam, were admitted to DaudKandi Upazila Health Complex.

Police recovered the bodies and sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also seized the covered van but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.

A case was filed in this connection.
