Dhaka: A witness gave a judicial statement before a Dhaka court on Thursday in a case filed over the 'kidnapping' of poet and columnist Farhad Mazhar.

Metropolitan Magistrate Khursid Alam recorded the judicial statement of Nazmus Sadat Sadi, counter manager of 'Hanif Paribahan' in Khulna, after Detective Branch of police Inspector Mahbubul Haque, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court, said court sources.

However, it could not be learnt what the witness said in his deposition.

Earlier, Farhad Mazhar was said to have been kidnapped by unknown miscreants from Adabar in the capital in the early hours on Monday.

Later, police found him at the 'Hanif Paribahan' bus at Nayapara in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore district at about 11:30pm on Monday while he was returning to Dhaka from Khulna.
