Gazipur: Two people, including a girl, were crushed to death under the wheels of a running train near Joydebpur rail station in Gazipur in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased are Motaleb, in his seventies, a resident of Sahapara area of Gazipur, and Hawa, believed to be 12, a resident of Sripur upazila of Gazipur.

The Joydebpur railway police said the duo was run over by a Dhaka-bound train Jamuna Express near Joydebpur railway station and died on the spot while they were crossing the rail track at about 4:30am.

Later, the railway police recovered the bodies and sent those to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed in this connection.
