Khagrachhari: Members of Bangladesh Army arrested absconding Ansar member Rafiqul Islam from Chowdhurypara of Dighinala upazila on Saturday for allegedly killing his colleague.

Dighinala Police officer-in-charge Shahadat Hossain Titu said an army patrol team from Dighinila zone arrested Rafiqul at about 4:00pm while trying to go to Longdu in Rangamati.

Earlier, a joint team of police and army recovered an abandoned 3 not 3 rifle and 80 bullets from Amirbari in Alinagar at about 11:30am.

Amir Hossain, 55, commander of Ansar post (security camp) and a resident of Panchhari upazila in the district, was shot dead allegedly by colleague Rafiqul over a trifling matter at Chowdhury Tilla Ansar post in Dighinala upazila on Friday.

Rafiqul went into hiding with his riffle and 84 bullets right after the incident.

Two cases were filed against Rafiqul, said Khagrachhari Superintendent of Police M Majid Ali.

Meanwhile, Amir Hossain’s body was handed over to his family members on Saturday morning for burial.
