Rajshahi: An under-trail prisoner was found dead at the Rajshahi Central Jail premises on early Sunday, jail sources said.

The deceased is Md Jonny, 21.

Jailor Shahadat Hossain told the local newsmen that Jonny went out from his Mohananda Ward of the jail to answer the call of nature at about 5:00am and hanged himself from a tree branch.

He was immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.

The jail authority found a divorce letter in his pocket, sent by his wife, and suspects that it might be the reason behind his suicide, the jailor added.

Police detained him on Saturday in connection with a theft case filed on 27 June and the court sent him to jail.

An unnatural death case was recorded with Rajpara Police in this connection.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem.
