Naogaon: Four people died after inhaling toxic gas in a septic tank at Goali village in Sadar upazila, Naogaon, on Monday morning.

The deceased are Imtiaz Alam, in his twenties, Babu Sardar, in his thirties, and Delbar Ali, in his forties, residents of Goali village and Ratan, believed to be 35, a resident of Raghunathpur village of the upazila.

Local people said Ratan lost consciousness after inhaling toxic gas when he went inside the septic tank of Toijuddin’s house in the area for cleaning at about 7:00am.

As Toijuddin’s son Imtiaz Alam went inside the septic tank for rescuing Ratan, he also lost consciousness due to toxic gas inhalation.

Then Babu and Delbar also went inside the tank for rescuing Imtiaz and Ratan and they also lost consciousness due to toxic gas inhalation.

Later, the four were rescued by local people and went to Naogaon Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
