Driver, assistant burnt in Netrakona bomb attack

Netrakona: A truck driver and his assistant received burn injuries as miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a sand-laden truck in Durgapur of Netrakona on Tuesday night.

The injured are driver Ashraful Islam, 28, resident of Shadhupara at Phulpur in Mymensingh, and the driver’s assistant Shohag Mia, 22, from the village of Chanpur of the upazila.

Durgapur police said the miscreants conducted the petrol bomb attack at Utrail area of Birishiri at about 9:45pm.

Durgapur Police officer-in-charge Rezaul Islam Khan said the Mymensingh‑bound truck from Durgapur Balughat lost control and fall by the roadside after the bomb attack.
The locals sent the injured to Durgapur Upazila Health Complex.

Durgapur Health Complex duty doctor Anwarul Amin said that 15% of the driver’s body and 10% of the assistant’s body were burnt.

They were shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
