Sirajganj: Five people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Bogra-Nagarbari Highway in Ullahpara upazila, Sirajganj, on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are Jahangir, a resident of Telkupi, Amjad Hossain, resident of Raninagar, Mahmudul Haque, resident of Dattakusa, and the auto-rickshaw driver Bakul, resident of Dadanpur village in Shalanga upazila.

The Hatikumrul Highway police said the accident occurred when a Sirajganj-bound bus of Nabinbaran Paribahan from Ullahpara collided head-on with the auto rickshaw at about 9:30am in the area, leaving the five passengers of the auto rickshaw dead on the spot.

The injured was admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Hatikumrul Highway police in this connection.
